Why Landscapes
In the spirit of Miranda Priestley from The Devil Wears Prada, “Landscapes for Fall… groundbreaking.” So, no. Landscapes are nothing new. Neither are abstract landscapes if we’re being honest. But there’s a reason why cliches bring us joy, and traditions are what they are: they feel good. They make sense. We look forward to them.
All About Paper
Every October I launch a paper collection: these pieces great to give (or get) as a holiday gift (the size or price are on the smaller side of my usual work) though the real reason for the timing is the sprucing factor.
Refresh Time
It never fails that once Summer is over I see my house with new eyes.. and it the eyes of a woman who's starting to think about entertaining/holidays and how that one room just isn't cutting it.
So what do you do when lighting a match and starting over… I mean renovating… isn't the answer?
Why Buy Art
This is the first piece of art I bought for myself, way back in 2009. I was 23 at the time, and had no business buying art. I barely had two pennies to rub together. But I saw this piece at a gallery opening at Cherry Lion Studios (an amazing sculpture studio in Atlanta that also rents out it’s gallery to emerging artists) and I HAD TO HAVE IT.
Les Artefacts: Why you need one
In a week I’ll be releasing a new paper series all loosely based on still life. It’s not the first time I’ve explored the subject. In fact, if I’m doing the math right, it’s the 8th time I’ve explored it.
We're Going In Circles
My last blog post touched on paintings with both beauty and substance, which it what I strive to make. You can appreciate each painting for the simple pleasure of having something beautiful to see, but there's more to it if you'd like to dive deeper as well.
What the Lines Mean
A few years ago while talking with gallery owner (who represented my work at the time), she told me that, "Clients don't care about what a painting means, they just want it to be beautiful."
The New Neutrals
How do artists evolve? How do you keep the common thread? Here I discuss my new series, New Neutrals, my why behind them and a peek into the process for others
More on Greens
"Be not afraid of growing slowly; be afraid only of standing still."
This painting is all about working on weaknesses and celebrating that they are a part of this beautiful life we get to experience.
For The Love of The Game
Let me tell you, I realize I make painting look easy. And that’s part of the job— to make it look effortless. But real creating take a lot of time— mentally mostly. Paintings live in my head for weeks, months. I try to work them out there.
Putting Vacation on your Wall
Clearly I love paintings that remind you of vacation, and this one is no exception. I wanted this painting to feel light, full of joy and happy memories.
